AbstractThe pollution levels for a given location are strongly influenced by the anthropogenic emissions and by the weather conditions that acts in the dispersion. Emissions in large urban centers, caused by industries, by the transportation sector and by domestic activities are deposited in the atmosphere and could cause any diseases. The use of remote sensing data in studies of air quality still little exploited nowadays, but with a great potential, as some environmental satellites that allows a monitoring of gases and aerosols emissions, such as MOPITT. In the present work were analyzed the effects of air pollution in the cardiovascular diseases in Sao Jose dos Campos City in Sao Paulo State. Were used the sensor MOPITT(Measurements of Polution in the Troposfere) for the collect CO (Carbon Monoxide) data, and the SO2, MP10µm and O3 data from CETESB, as well as the data from cardiovascular diseases of the SUS. It was found that the numbers of diseases are related to the pollutants concentration and the meteorological factors, which, in the months of July, August and September, provide a significant increase in cardiovascular diseases.
